Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America.
French prelate, he completed his basic studies in Madagascar and Morocco. He holds a Master’s degree in Theology from the Catholic Institute of Paris and a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He graduated as a diplomat from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy of Rome. He entered the diplomatic service of the Vatican, serving in New Zealand, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Cuba, and Brazil. He has been a permanent observer of the Holy See to the United Nations in Geneva; apostolic nuncio in Haiti, Uganda, and Mexico. Since 2016, he was appointed by Pope Francis as apostolic nuncio to the United States, and since 2023, Cardinal of the Catholic Church.
