Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra
Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra (Spain, 1945) is the Archbishop Emeritus of Madrid. Before entering the seminary, he pursued studies in Education, Pedagogy, and Mathematics. He later earned Licentiate degrees in Philosophy and Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, as well as a diploma in Adult Education from the Complutense University of Madrid. Ordained to the priesthood in 1973, he served as Bishop of Orense and Archbishop of Oviedo, Valencia, and Madrid. In 2016, he was created Cardinal by Pope Francis. He also served two terms as Vice President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference and was the first Ordinary for the Eastern Catholic faithful residing in Spain who did not belong to a Church with its own hierarchy.
